For approximately 20 years this Seventh-day Adventist leader was an ardent supporter of Ellen White. As he got more familiar with her, and her testimonies, he began to have doubts about her prophetic calling. He appears to have suspected that the strong men in her life, such as W.C. White and A.G. Daniells, were having an influence on her testimonies. Hoping to make amends with Ellen White by giving her a chance to respond to his concerns, he wrote her a letter listing some of the problems he discovered with her writings. She never answered him.
