For decades Seventh-day Adventists have identified themselves as the only true church of God, whereas all other churches are either "nominal" or "Babylon." This sectarian view is based upon their interpretation of Revelation 12:17 and 19:10. They claim that the remnant church will have the "testimony of Jesus" which Revelation 19:10 defines as the "spirit of prophecy." They claim that Ellen White is that spirit of prophecy, thus proving them to be the only church that keeps the commandments of God and has the testimony of Jesus (Ellen White). But is this the correct way to interpret Revelation 19:10? The Greek indicates the Spirit of Prophecy is the spirit behind the gift, not the gift itself.
